Harry Potter
Fandoms come and go. This one just won’t. People reading these books over the course of a few sittings under the duvet as kids are now in their thirties with kids of their own reading from the same copies with broken spines. The films are being projected in cinemas somewhere right now. Getting a present for someone who loves Harry Potter is easy. Finding one that they’ll love requires a little more thought. It’s about more than getting something with an owl on it. It’s about finding something that truly honours how much this means to them. Because it means a lot. More than you know if you didn’t read the books growing up. More than you’ll ever realise if you didn’t.
That’s the issue with a lot of HP merch. There’s just so much of it that the really good stuff gets lost. Thousands upon thousands of items that the logo has been thrown on with nothing more than the sincerest hope it’ll sell. We’ve skipped right past all of that. Instead we’ve only selected items that we believe have been put together by people who actually care about this. Whether that be because they’re built with the same love we have or because they’re genuinely Harry Potter fans at heart. The difference between those two kinds of merch is tangible.
We’ve considered who these gifts are for. The friend who owns all the books so proudly on their shelf that they’ll know within seconds if you put effort into finding something for them or not. The kid seeing it for the first time who deserves something just as magical as the story they’re about to delve into. The grown-up who would never conceive buying themselves something this cute, but will gladly accept it from someone else. Different people, different needs. One present will not suit all three.
Stuff here we would buy ourselves. End of story. If we didn’t have enough love for something to give it as a gift, then it doesn’t belong. Doesn’t matter if it’s a bestseller elsewhere or the logo is easily identifiable. By now Harry Potter and the wizarding world has been built well enough and loved enough that your gifts should too. Junk won’t cut it. School coloured rainbow stripe cat won’t cut it. Our fans deserve better than that and we hold ourselves to that standard.Fandoms come and go. This one just won’t.
