They already love music more than you do. They’ve got playlists for emotions you forgot you feel. Albums they swear they’ve fallen in love with, special editions of records you know they bought for the cover art. They talk about that one song like it owes them money. Shopping for them is intimidating because it feels like walking into the middle of an argument you weren’t aware had been happening for years.
We get it. That’s why we curated this collection with incredible care. We didn’t just go with some boring, music related gift. Something forgettable like a mug with a treble clef printed on it or a framed picture of The Beatles crossing Abbey Road. We thought about what music obsessives would actually want to own, or use, or hang on their walls. It’s the difference between acknowledging a hobby and understanding why it’s an obsession.
So we only picked things we loved. We constantly asked ourselves, “Would this work for someone who’s really fucking passionate about music?” Someone who could easily recognise a thoughtless gift and silently judge you with their eyes. If an item couldn’t pass that test, we kicked it out. What you’re left with are gifts that go far deeper than “Oh, they’re into music. Cool, I know!”
Some are objectively useful, like records, stands, speakers and other goodies that improve the way they listen to music. Stuff that feels like it was made for their lifestyle because music isn’t on the periphery; it’s how they spend their day. Others are purposefully sentimental because we get it. Music isn’t the background hum in their lives, it’s a full blown interior monologue that deserves respect.
We don’t pretend to encompass every music fan under the sun with hundreds of gift ideas. Shortlist because a good gift list should always be. These are all things we would give as gifts to friends and family. Moments when it really counts. We even own some of them ourselves. One of us bought something from this list to give to someone else before we’d finished editing. Now that’s a sign you’re on the right path.
