The Last of Us
Some games come and go. The Last of Us is not one of those games. If you played it, you remember where you were when you played it the way you remember a novel that impacted you. The story. The world. The gravity of every choice Joel makes in that finale. It stays with you.
This means that bar is already set incredibly high when you’re looking for something to gift a fan of it. Something that matches the quality of source material. And that bar isn’t low.
With that in mind, we built this collection. Not with jerseyOfficial logo printed onto a ceramic mug that was never meant to be used. This is stuff that feels like it captures what this game is. That understands the art direction. The matter-of-fact emotion this game handled so well. The specific brand of ugly and beautiful that comes from a world where nature has grown over the skeletons of society and humanity is still the most vile thing on the planet.
Specificity was important to us. Pop nondescript fandom merch wasn’t invited to this party.
Whether you played both titles, watched the HBO series, and need something to massage your PTSD from that ending, or you just started playing it and are currently half way through an emotional roller coaster ride of a Tuesday night. The Last of Us fandom encompasses many people with varying relationships to the story and the gifts in this section reflect that. Some are decorative. Some are definitely for use. Some are just so damn right if you know someone who needs you to tell them that you understand what this game meant to them.
We also considered occasion. Birthdays, Christmas, a gift to reward someone for surviving a tough year, a thank you for your friend who strongly suggest (read: begged) you play it in the first place. These aren’t extremely niche gifts that only apply to one specific scenario either. They cover all contexts and types of fans.
The Last of Us asks a lot of its viewer and earns it every step of the way. Everything in this collection tried to ask a lot of you too. Be chosen because you thought about it, not because the packaging looked familiar. That was our standard for everything here and reason we kept the list small.
