Cufflinks
There’s a quietly pleasing feeling about cufflinks done right. Small enough to forget about, but important enough that the right pair change how a shirt feels as much as they do how it looks. We’ve thought about them a lot over the years. More than is probably healthy, because wearing an ugly pair of cufflinks is a sad affair and a great pair are some of the most considered gifts you can buy for a man who has everything he needs.
The occassion is usually self-explanatory. Weddings, milestone birthdays, promotions, retirement. Someone who wears a double cuff shirt and deserves something personal and lasting rather than the nth bottle of whisky that’ll never be drunk. Cufflinks are that sweet spot where gifts become more considered without needing to be over the top, and where the wearer will think of you every single time they pull out that shirt.
What we’ve stayed away from is novelty. We don’t want cufflinks shaped like golf clubs or miniature Ferraris. Novelty cufflinks get worn once if they’re lucky, and then placed next to dead batteries and a hotel keyring for eternity. Instead we’ve focused on craft. Real materials, real care taken in the making. The kind of piece that earns pride of place in your good watch box, and gets taken out for occasions that matter.
We’ve also tried to balance that with character, without being flashy. A guy who wears cufflinks already knows what he likes. He doesn’t need to shout about it from the rooftops. These are the kind of pieces that earn a second glance rather than demanding immediate attention. Unique without verging into gimmicky. Personal without fitting neatly into a niche.
Some are cufflinks that have been produced the same way for decades because they’re just that good. Others are from smaller makers doing unexpected things with materials and shapes. They all pass the test we apply to everything here. Would we give these as gifts? Not would they look nice wrapped up in a box, would we hand them over ourselves and actually mean it.
For a present that’s small on size but big on thought, there’s nowhere better to start.
