30th Anniversary
Thirty years is not some insignificant milestone. It’s long enough to have survived something genuine. To have chosen each other over and over on good days and days that quite literally could not get worse. When you’re picking out a gift for a 30th anniversary, you should understand that. It needs to be special. It can’t be something prefab. Something you’d get for a fifth or a tenth anniversary if you swapped the number on the gift tag. This is important. Your gift should feel important too.
By tradition that means pearl, which is helpful if you’re going for something understatedly celebratory. We haven’t restricted ourselves to that because traditional is useful but it doesn’t automatically mean right. The best gifts for thirty years of anything are the ones with meaning. Presents that feel intentional. Gifts that say “we know you” and “we know what this means” instead of “happy anniversary.”
Speaking of knowing, we also considered who the gift giver was in each case. Sometimes you are one half of the couple being gifted to and you’re just overwhelmed trying to pick something meaningful enough for the occasion without veering into maudlin territory. Sometimes you’re the couple’s grown children who have finally reached the point where you want to give your parents a worthy gift. Other times you’re a friend who has been watching these two celebrate every anniversary for thirty years and wants to show how amazing they think their friendship is. Any of those are valid reasons for looking for the perfect gift, which is why we have options that work for all those scenarios.
We haven’t included anything in this collection because it looks good on a wishlist or came in a shiny box. We knew better than that. If you’re celebrating thirty years you should know better than that too. Each gift on this page has stood out to us because it’s something that will be cherished long after the boxes are empty. Slow gifts that will be told fondly stories about, not used for a month and donated. If someone you care about has hit this milestone you should give them something that’ll stick around just as much as their marriage has.
