Stormtrooper
There's something about the Stormtrooper that won't go away. Five decades after white armour first marched across our screens, it remains the first image people reach for when they want to say something about Star Wars without saying everything about Star Wars. Not Luke. Not Vader. Not even the Millennium Falcon. The Stormtrooper. And there's a reason for that. We think about it more than is probably healthy for us.
The problem with purchasing gifts like this is that most stuff out there falls into one of two categories. Gigantic statues that you will never have room to display, or cheap plastic tat that looks nothing like the pictures by the time it arrives. We have no interest in doing that to anyone. Instead, we set out to find things that actually last; treats for people who like their source material respected, that don't stick out like a sore thumb in a real person's home or life.
For us, what makes the Stormtrooper stand out from the crowd is the design. Simple, minimal, almost architectural. It works as a line drawing. It works emblazoned on a t-shirt. It works sculpted in ceramic or cast in resin or embossed on the face of a watch. Few fictional properties can make that claim and it opens the door for gifts that tap into the aesthetic rather than fotzbing up a random object with a logo.
The people we're buying for range further than you might realise. Sure there's the life-long fans who grew up with the original trilogy on repeat in the local cinema. There's the folks who rediscovered it through their children and found they cared more than they thought. And there's people who simply love a well designed thing and know where this one came from. All of them deserve better than something you'd pick up at a service station.
We've kept it tight for that reason. Just a selection of stuff we would buy ourselves, ones that are good enough that we don't have to attach a health warning to them. That's the only qualification we care about.
