Superheroes
This collection is for a particular type of person. They grew up with these superheroes, and it stayed with them. They know what issue is the “real” first issue. They will happily, at length and with little prompting, explain to you exactly what was wrong with that movie. They do not take any of this lightly. If you are shopping for them it will either be incredibly easy or impossible, depending on if you know what you’re doing.
We know what we’re doing. We put this collection together because we have been on both sides of that transaction more times than we can count. We’ve been the recipient of that logo-emblazoned novelty mug and plastered on our best smile. We’ve also been the giver of that thing that landed so squarely, that someone knew we actually listened and understood what the other geek in our life cared about and why.
That’s the intersection we’re operating on here. Not merch. Not the sort of thing that still is in its factory packaging six months later when it’s bundled into a thrift shop bag. We’re going for the thing that earns a space on a bookshelf or desk. We want you to pick our gift up and know someone actually thought about you when they picked it out.
Superheroes can mean a thousand different things to a thousand different people who love them. To some it’s childhood memories and Comic Book Guy style nostalgia. Toothbrushes traded in for Captain America posters and Saturday morning cartoons on repeat. To others it’s something deeper, something they genuinely engage with. The writing. The mythology. Decades of history filling the worlds behind their favourite characters.
The gifts that click fall in line with that. They don’t talk down to the person you’re buying for and they don’t feel like you grabbed them off the gift shop spinner rack at the airport. Everything here we’d proudly give to ourselves. We held each potential gift up to the person we had in mind and asked if it was good enough. They wouldn’t let us add just anything. Things that made the cut did so because they just…felt right. More than having the proper logo in the proper place. Knowing the difference is what this whole collection is about.
