Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

You know the sort of person we mean. The person who would flip their nut if they saw Leonardo or Raphael done right on something they can actually use. We know that person. Some of us ARE that person. The Turtle’s legacy has existed long enough now that fandom for them crosses generations in a way that very few properties can. You have guys in their forties who sat down to watch the original cartoon on Saturday mornings who still get warm fuzzies when they see that logo today. You also have kids right now discovering them for the first time who will argue passionately about which Turtle is superior. For the record we agree with them. Michelangelo is the best turtle, but we’ll be mature about this and not let that colour our discussion here. We wanted this collection to showcase things that you can OWN rather than just BUY. There’s a lot of TMNT gear out there. Most of it isn’t trying very hard. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle stuff you’ll find in stores was generally given the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle label and little thought beyond that. We wanted something better. We wanted stuff that showed love and respect to the source material. Stuff that you could point at and know a real fan looked at it. This is important because let’s be honest. The people who you are buying TMNT merchandise for probably have fond memories of the franchise. They know cows DO NOT give a bitch. They know what’s supposed to feel like when you say it was COOLNESS OVER 9000! They can spot a fake and they can spot something that was made with passion from something that was made to exploit a property. We endeavoured to keep our efforts authentic. Whether you are shopping for that kid who has just become obsessed with the cartoons or that person in their 30’s who had the figures growing up and still has a basement filled with them we think you will find something in here that works. When you buy into nostalgia make sure that what you buy is as good on the inside as it is on the outside. There is nothing nicer than seeing something as an adult that you loved as a kid and discovering it’s still as beautiful as you remember. But receiving a cheap crappy version of something you loved is about as heartbreaking as it comes. Please know that we did NOT wake up one day and think ‘bugger waxmodels… how hard can Turtle merchandise be?’ We put as much effort into this as we could.
