Space Invaders
Some people will notice a Space Invaders reference from twenty feet away. When they do, they’ll feel a profound and totally irrational connection to whomever created it. Maybe they spent their childhood feeding quarters into machines after school. Maybe they stumbled across the game decades later and fell just as enthusiastically in love. Maybe they don’t get stronger nostalgia than that feeling, but they know that row of aliens sinking lower toward your doom means something more than a coin-op from 1978.
This moment. When popular culture and technology bumped shoulders and had some undeniable baby furniture.
We built this kit for those people.
The ones who already own the Shirtiest Shirt possible. The ones who can argue convincingly about which era of arcade greatness mattered most. We didn’t want cheap keychains that throw out a vagrant nod to the past and call it a day. Nostalgia needs to be earned, and if something’s going to land in your collection it should hold up under that scrutiny. You should want to keep it. Touch it. Display it. Or gift it with none of that terrible hesitating-you-presented-with-a-white elephant feeling.
The boundary between good gifts and crap gifts is broader here than you’d think. No, not every wonderful reminder of your past loves comes stuffed into a T shirt. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a wonderful T shirt in here. Prints, yes. Tees, yes. But also some amazingly nerd-filling objet jeux that you can shove onto your desk or your shelf or your wall and feel smarter just for having given them a second glance. Because the right person will. They’ll know exactly what they’re looking at and appreciating, and for them? That’s most of the battle.
Pixel thinly off an unrelated toy, or does it care about the thing that it’s obviously selling under? We tried to make sure that every product here fell on the correct side of that spectrum.
