Gin
Gin enthusiasts are people too. They have preferences, strong opinions on tonic, and will absolutely know if you've purchased a poorly reviewed bottle from the bottom shelf and slapped a bow on it. This isn't meant as an insult, by the way. Consider it helpful context. If you impress the gin enthusiast you really impress them.
At Kin we noticed that gin had become one of those disastrous middle grounds. You know the ones, where the difference between an amazing gift and a lump of coal is massive but half of gift guides don't know the difference. We did some research. Got advice from makers and drinkers alike and compiled a list of everything we thought would hit the mark. The bottle that a die hard gin lover doesn't already have stashed away. The glass that elevates the whole experience. The cocktail that transforms a Tuesday night into cheers to staying in tonight.
What you'll find here works for loads of occasions but has a clear point of focus. Celebrating a birthday. Saying thank you. A hostess gift. Christmas. Congratulating someone on a promotion. That weird one where someone has done you a massive favour and you feel like a card is just too casual. Gin fits all those bills because it's celebratory in itself. Try buying someone a bottle of bourbon in a nice bottle and seeing how celebratory it feels. Gin just works.
We also focussed on the kind of detail most guides ignore. Where it's from matters. Small distilleries pushing the bounds of botanicals. Producers with actual stories as opposed to brandished ones. Gifts that come with conversation starters built in. Glassware was considered too because when it comes to gin, unwrapping is part of the fun.
There are no 'filler' items here. We don't do padding. If we didn't think yes that's perfect when we picked it we didn't include it. That means we left off some household names that we feel are overrated because of reputation. And we didn't include things that look great but taste like an also ran.
Instead we gave you a curated list of gifts that we genuinely would give. To the person who has everything gin related. To the person who still thinks gin tastes like liquorice and needs showing up. And to everyone in between who deserves better than a value multipack from the supermarket in a fancy wrapper.
