Aftershave
Buying aftershave for someone else is an educated guess at best. You know they wear something, you smell it once in an elevator or across a dinner table and suddenly you’re in a department store with an enthusiastic stranger spraying you in the face with no real idea what you’re looking for. We’ve stood there. It’s not pleasant.
So we did things differently. Instead of approaching aftershave as we would any other fragrance category, we started by thinking about how you look at any good gift; what does this say about the person that’s going to receive it? Not just any bottle that smells nice. Something considered. Something that tells him you paid attention.
Everything we’ve selected here is better than expected. Not necessarily expensive just for the sake of it, but chosen because the quality is excellent and because the scent smells like it has something to say. We wanted bottles that feel nice to hold, formulas that work on your skin (and don’t just ‘preserve fragrance’ in the store), and brands that have built a reputation by actually being good at making products rather than just being good at shouting about how good they are.
We also thought about who these are for. Some of the men in your life already know exactly what they like and will wear the same thing religiously for twenty years. Others have probably reached a point where they’re ready to upgrade from what they smelled like at university but just never got round to it. Those men are both here. We’ve made it easy to tell them apart.
What we haven’t done is include everything. There are thousands of aftershaves in the world, the majority of which would make a perfectly acceptable present and absolutely nothing more. Acceptable isn’t enough for us. We want you to hand them something they actually remember receiving. Something they use every day, reach for each morning and notice when they need replacing.
