Grandad
Finding the right gift for grandad is trickier than you’d think. He’s probably owned most things he’d want for long enough already. He’ll say that he doesn’t want anything and he’ll mean it in the kind of way that your other relatives don’t. He’s also the only person who will really notice whether you’ve made an effort or not. You know the ones we mean. That combo makes most people head straight for socks or a tin of biscuits and we get the thinking, but we also think he deserves something better than that.
Our problem was that we couldn’t find anyone else that agreed with us. We wanted gifts that were actually suited to grandad. Gifts that don’t just show you’ve made an effort from afar but that really land. Things that he’ll use, display proudly or talk about with anyone who’ll listen. We focussed on quality because let’s be honest grandads will know if something’s been cheaply made and will politely ignore it whilst simultaneously raging on inside. We wanted things with personality. Things that feel like they’ve been picked just for him, rather than just to plug a present buying gap.
Bits are sentimental. Gifts that show you were really listening when he told you that story about his old dog for the fourth time. Some of it is wonderfully useful. Gorgeous versions of the things he already uses every day. But whatever it is, it’s never moop. We don’t believe in gift sets that look big in the shop but lack substance on the day. We don’t think novelty for novelty’s sake is chucking it sideways either.
Gifts for grandad should make him feel seen. Well seen. That’s what every item in this collection will do. If it didn’t deserve to be there, it wasn’t allowed in.
