Tampa Bay Lightning
Trying to find a gift for a Tampa Bay Lightning fan should be simple. In practice, it’s anything but. The official merchandise store is stocked full of jerseys in every size and nothing else that feels remotely personalised, while the general sites offer endless variations on licensed mugs and keychains until you bang your head against the keyboard in frustration. We’ve been down that road. We did all that research. We’ve got helmets mixed in with beach towels as we type this.
We know it sucks. So we’ve ignored 99% of the options available and curated items from the remaining 1% that we’d actually want to give to someone who bleeds blue and white.
If you know anything about Lightning fans, it’s that they bleed blue and white. This is a franchise that has rewarded their fans’ passionate attentions with back to back championships, some of the most entertaining hockey of the modern era and enough big names for even casual viewers to have legitimately formed opinions on their roster. When you find yourself shopping for one of those fans, your gift should meet them halfway. It should celebrate the fact that they know about the team; not just that they own a hat.
All of our recommendations are things that we know you can use in real life. We considered the Lightning fan who will watch every game regardless of scoresheet or time zone. We considered the fan who traveled to Tampa for the playoffs, and the one who still gets the fiery gab about the 2021 run on Adelaide Road as though it happened yesterday. We considered birthday gifts and Christmas gifts and that perfect present you get someone who doesn’t have a birthday when you’re out and see it and think of them. That last one is usually the best.
Speaking of which; we considered who that someone actually is. A Lightning fan who’s 22 isn’t going to want (or need) the same thing as one who spent their teenage years worshipping from the home gym of the Vinny Lecavalier cabin. We’ve tried to account for different ages, backgrounds and fan intensities without resorting to padding the list with things we don’t love. You won’t find any of that here. If we recommend it, we stand by it.
You’re already caring enough about a Lightning fan to want to get them something. Please let the gifts you choose from here be your first stop, not your last. Few list. High quality. No fluff.
