Chewbacca
Star Wars fans and Chewie fans: there’s both of those groups and they are not always the same. Chewie fans aren’t looking for spaceships. They aren’t debating whether purist lightsabers are blue or green. They aren’t fighting over who gets the Ren Funko Pop first. They love Star Wars, but they are specifically here for one big, roaring pilot who has never been properly recognised for his achievements and who is, in every one of his appearances, the most loveable character in the franchise. That is a specific niche to care about and it requires specific gifts.
We compiled this list because so many Swag companies subsume Chewbacca into generic merch. His face ends up on a mug with five other characters from the films, or grouped together with Han because let’s face it, he’s clearly the star of that bundle. If you love Chewie specifically, that’s never good enough. We wanted gifts that put Chewbacca front and centre, that a true Chewie aficionado would find and think ‘these people get me.’
So everything here had to pass a simple quiz. Would someone who actually likes Chewbacca want this gift? Or is it someone shoehorned onto a bundle because it was cheap to use his likeness?
